Looking after your rug

Looking after your rug

Looking after a rug can help it last for many years, and keep it looking clean and attractive in your home. Here are four steps to help you take good care of your rug:

1. Vacuum your rug regularly. This will remove dirt, dust, and other debris that can build up and cause damage to the fibres of your rug. Use a vacuum with a soft brush attachment to avoid damaging the fibres, and be sure to vacuum the entire surface of the rug, including the edges and corners.

2. Use a rug pad. A rug pad will help protect the rug from the weight of furniture and foot traffic, which can cause it to wear out more quickly. It will also help prevent slipping and sliding, which can be dangerous.

3. Rotate your rug. Over time, the weight of furniture and foot traffic can cause your rug to become uneven and worn in certain areas. To prevent this, rotate your rug every few months so that the wear and tear is distributed evenly.

4. Clean spills and stains promptly. If something spills on your rug, it's important to clean it up as soon as possible to prevent it from staining the fibres. Use a clean, damp cloth to blot the spill, and avoid rubbing it, as this can cause the stain to spread. If the stain is stubborn, you can use a mild detergent to gently scrub it, but be sure to test it on a small, inconspicuous area first to make sure it won't damage the rug.

By following these steps, you can help keep your rug looking beautiful and extend its lifespan. Regular cleaning and maintenance will help you enjoy your rug for many years to come.
